FENDER LOOKS TO BOLSTER IN-HOUSE PR

Marshall Consultants has been tapped by Fender Musical Instruments as the legendary music brand searches for its first director of corporate communications.

The search is the 55-year-old, Scottsdale, Ariz.-based guitar maker's initial effort to establish a proactive corporate communications function, MC said.

Known for producing the workhorse rock guitar, the Stratocaster, Fender is looking to tap into the high-end and custom guitar and lifestyle market while boosting its core business. Fender, previously owned by CBS but now independent, seeks an executive to manage co-branding efforts with brands, ala Harley Davidson and Hard Rock Café, as well as traditional media outreach and marketing efforts.

The company ideally wants the $100K+/year position to go to someone passionate about guitar music and its heritage. Contact: MarshallCareers@MarshallConsultants.com.

MARSHALL
CONSULTANTS CELEBRATES 40TH ANNIVERSARY;

FORMS MARSHALL FUNDRAISING MANAGEMENT
Marshall Consultants is celebrating its 40th Anniversary as the first executive search and management consulting firm specializing in Public Relations, Corporate and Marketing Communications and Investor Relations.  It also announces the formation of Marshall Fundraising Management.

Larry Marshall, Founder and CEO, notes, “When we began in 1967, many of our corporate clients hired PR people for “window dressing” or because their competitors had them. It was a function that was “last to know, first to go”. But that’s now changed as the PR and corporate communications functions are vital to the very existence of many companies”.

Formerly based in New York City for over 35 years, with Western offices in Seattle and Los Angeles, the firm has relocated to San Francisco, CA and Ashland, OR. They focus on a limited number of senior-level searches from a select group of regional, national and global clients.

He adds: “We appreciate having the opportunity to assist over one half of the Fortune 500 companies and evolving companies and non-profit organizations and institutions, and most leading PR agencies,  bringing them high-caliber PR and corporate communications executives. After these many years, we are rededicating ourselves to providing our clients superior, personalized service. I still enjoy ‘the Quest’.”

Marshall discusses their new venture, Marshall Fundraising Management:  “My wife, Joy Marshall’s, passion has always been in the non-profit arena and, given her success in that field, along with our good fortune in life, decided she wanted us to continue to give back to society.  So, we now will offer our dual business background and non-profit fundraising experience and talents by creating Marshall Fundraising Management where we will advise and assist regional, national, and global non-profit clients in their fundraising efforts”.

They will also assist philanthropic organizations, as well as private and corporate foundations, in assuring that their contributions are directed wisely, are cost-effective, and achieve their desired results.

The firm’s principals are seasoned business and non-profit consultants, each with  some of the highest credentials of any full-service non-profit fundraising consultancy in the West.  Larry and Joy’s past clients, together and individually, have included Avon Foundation, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Children’s Miracle Network, Ford Foundation, Consumers Union, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, United Jewish Appeal, and the United Way (regionally and nationally) to name a few.  Recent and current local clients include the National Kidney Foundation (of So. OR), Community Health Center (Jackson County, OR), and the Camelot Theatre Company (Talent, OR). Their new website is: www.MarshallFundraising.com.

Joy's major involvement for over 15 years had been with the Children's Miracle Network (CMN was founded by Marie Osmond and her family), both on the management staff, and as a consultant to, many of its over 175 children’s hospital foundations in the USA, Canada and Mexico.  She has guided hospitals for children in creating successful corporate-sponsored fundraising events and cause-branding programs.  She was the Executive Producer of CMN's annual local broadcast, aired on KABC-TV from Disneyland, while heading CMN fundraising at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.

Both are Managing Partners of Marshall Fundraising Management, and integrate their individual skills. Larry advises clients in PR and Marketing Communications strategy and programs, building their awareness and visibility. These efforts support Joy’s fundraising, development strategy, and special events planning, programming and execution. They partner with their clients’ internal staff to achieve the most successful results.  They plan also to have a network of Strategic Partners regionally, nationally and globally, to be announced shortly.

They conclude, “We wish to represent clients who serve compelling, and potentially high-visibility causes, with ambitious non-profit fundraising or philanthropic giving objectives, and where we believe that our skills will make a difference. We assist them in “doing well by doing good’”.

MARSHALL IS BACK

Larry Marshall, a veteran executive search consultant who ran the first search firm focused on PR and corporate and  marketing communications, has set up shop again.  Marshall has unveiled the latest incarnation of Marshall Consultants, based in Ashland, Oregon, keeping the name of his previous firm, which was founded in New York in 1967 and dissolved in 2002 after he "retired early."

Marshall was an early investor in Dell Computer and reaped a windfall from its success.  He traveled the world after retiring early and told O'Dwyer's that he's ready to get back in the ring.  He said MC, which he's running with his wife, Joy, will take on a limited number of senior level searches at any location, nationally or internationally.  "With pent-up demand for hiring again, after the economic downturn a few years ago, and our having taken a brief hiatus, the needs for our recruiting services are emerging again," he said.

Joy Marshall, a consultant for the Children's Miracle Network who guided fundraising and cause-related marketing for children's hospitals, oversees operations and research for MC.  She also handles recruiting for the non-profit sector.

Veteran PR executive Hugh McCandless, former EVP for MC, serves as of-counsel and splits time between southern California and Florida.

Marshall said he also handles management consulting tasks like M&A advisement, succession plans, agency search, and staff evaluation.  Info:

PR In The Spotlight:
Executive Search Firm Founder Gets Back In The Game
To Reestablish His Longtime Consultancy

Marshall Consultants (http://www.marshallconsultants.com), the longtime Manhattan-based PR executive search firm, has been reestablished by founder and CEO Larry Marshall through his return from early retirement.

Founded in 1967, Marshall Consultants has the distinction of being the first executive search and management consulting firm to specialize in PR, investor relations, corporate and marketing communications functions, says Marshall. With a 94% search completion track-record gained in almost four decades, Marshall said that he is looking forward to renewing his relationships with the many clients they have successfully served, as well as building new ones.

For over 30 years the firm has had eastern offices in New York, as well as western offices in Seattle and Los Angeles. Marshall and his team have now relocated to their present offices in Ashland, Oregon. Marshall Consultants, whose new slogan is “First … and still the best!” has represented over half the Fortune 500 companies, major PR agencies, prestigious institutions and non-profit organizations.

Formerly, the firm has had a staff of up to 10 professional recruiters, handling a high volume of searches at all experience levels. The new practice is a boutique executive search firm handling selected search assignments exclusively at the senior management level. Additional service offerings will be available in management consulting projects, including communications company mergers and acquisitions, and assistance in corporate client’s PR firm selection.

“With pent-up demand for hiring after the economic downturn a few years ago, the need for our recruiting services are emerging again,” Marshall said. “We’ll be taking on a limited number of retained senior level searches to which we’ll give our undivided attention. With our comprehensive resources, we can effectively serve clients in any location, nationally or internationally, as we have in the past.”
